I am the President of an Addiction Recovery organization. I am always on the lookout for good books on this subject. When someone pointed this book out to me, I purchased it right away. The content is good with John’s real life stories. I have found that you can try to educate people about the harmful effects of addiction and they hear you but it doesn’t have the same effect as when they hear real life stories. I will recommend this book to others.
Enjoyed learning the tool that I could use immediately! Powerful and life changing! Effective! Easy to use, practical.
John is honest and forthcoming about his life and the power of his choices..I highly recommend these seminars to anyone seeking release from their own addiction issues or dealing with someone who is addicted.
Thank you for being so personable and honest. You have encouraged my heart and opened my mind to some new points.
If you are someone who has struggled with overcoming addiction, this is a great resource for you! John Childress is very real and shares his personal journey and struggles in detail so that others can see the transforming power that God can have in their lives as well. Many often think that there is no way to truly overcome an addiction, and John’s story shows that with God’s power you can overcome anything! His life’s story and journey is a true testimony of overcoming and turning adversity int…
We weren’t here for Sessions 1+2, but I’m sorry we weren’t, because Session 3 was great! Thank you so much for coming and your sharing and honesty. God bless you and your ministry.
From the depths of darkness and despair to the light of freedom, John relates his journey of addiction to his ultimate trust in God to release the chains that bound him. In a very personal, real and vivid form of writing, John takes you through a chronological account of how it all started and how he ultimately listened to his savior Jesus Christ. What followed was a peace and power that he had never experienced, a presence that enabled him to rise up and live a life where all things are possibl…
My prayer is that this book will help the churches begin to address the reality of addiction among its members, whether it is addiction to substances, sex, food or people’s approval, etc. We can no longer keep our head in the sand thinking that our own members do not struggle with various addictions. This book could be the catalyst to helping churches begin to openly discuss those things that enslave us. We cannot fulfill the command to “carry one another’s burden” (Gal.6:2) without bein…
In the reality of John’s story, we observe the necessity for sound choices, the consequences of poor choices, and the hope of the best choices in a life set free by the grace and goodness of God.
Come back soon! You help me greatly!
