A Quiet Day

Silence and Solitude

4 1/2 hours by myself.  Just with God.  Our leader encouraged us to simply listen, quieten our noisy brains and be still for the first 30 minutes or so. Not the easiest thing to do!  We have such noisy and busy lives. I was wondering what kind of journey I was on today.  Was God going to reveal something? The following are a couple of thoughts I had:

I found myself singing the chorus of a hymn “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” I had a deeper sense of the need to place Christ first in all that I do.  It is out of Christ, in me, that I live out this life.

I was with John on Saturday and I walked into a group of friends and chose to spend time listening to their stories with absolutely no agenda, just simply being there in Christ.  In ministry it is difficult to do this.  We have such a heart for people to come to know Him or grow in Him, we forget to be present in the moment with people.   Christ will draw people to Himself and sometimes we will share the Gospel using our words.  All I can tell you is that on Saturday I enjoyed “ministry” and people did share deep moments in their life with me and some want to continue the conversation.

Another thought:  As I was reading in Isaiah 50, I landed on a part of verse 4, ” He awakens me morning by morning, He awakens my ear to hear as the learned…”  The Lord wakes us up every morning and leads us every day as He wills.  It is a moment by moment journey.

Enjoy this day walking with and in Christ!
