Hamburg is a city, which can be viewed through many lenses. For some it is a very beautiful city, very rich, full of the latest fashions, and a tourist attraction. For others it is a place where they have landed into prostitution, addictions, homelessness. It is a port city full of many immigrants. There is a very large Muslim population. It has 1.8 million people. There is a very low percentage of evangelical, truly faithful believers, and there is a great need for the Gospel of Christ to be shared.
The national pastors of these small evangelical churches often work full-time jobs to support their families. We remember asking Lars (a pastor) what the greatest need was. He replied, “People to come who have time, and those with grey hairs.”
